At my last post, we had 4. Well, it's up to 9 now. I think we had 6 Friday morning when we left for MOPS around 9:00. We had 8 total duckies when we got home in the afternoon.
This morning we saw a new little one in the box with the mamma duck. Freshly hatched and wet.
Our ducks have had some special visitors the past couple of days. Some of our friends and neighbors have stopped in to see them. Not sure if the big ducks appreciate all of the attention or not. ;-)
I do believe that there pen is a bit more smelly now than before, though :-(
I changed the water earlier today cause it was nastier than ever! Yikes!! Of course, as soon as you give the ducks a full container of fresh, clean, clear water, they splash around in it and you are left with HALF a container of not-so-fresh, not-so-clean, certainly-not-clear water.
The babies are able to drink from the shallow rubbermaid lid. They have also been swimming in it a little bit. Have I mentioned that they are SO cute?
We've got another sqeaking egg, so I anticipate that we will have another duckling in the basement tomorrow. With our luck, it will probably hatch while we are at church. We'd like to be able to watch a full hatching sometime. Anyway to make a duck hatch faster??
